EUVABECO is currently developing implementation plans to guide countries in setting up a
European Vaccination Card (EVC). These plans will explain all the technical details and steps
needed to set up the EVC.
Once the European Vaccination Card (EVC) is implemented, healthcare professionals who
administer or register vaccinations will be able to provide citizens with their own EVC card.
To develop the implementation plans, five countries will start pilot projects in October 2024.
These pilot projects will help test and improve the technical guidance.
Participation will be entirely voluntary for citizens.
The final version of the implementation plans will be made public in 2026, allowing anyone
in any country to use them. At this point, each pilot country will decide whether to continue
with the EVC, and other countries will choose whether to adopt the EVC based on their
unique needs and circumstances.
