What is the difference between the European Vaccination Card (EVC) and the Digital COVID Certificate (DCC)?

The European Vaccination Card (EVC) is a personal document that keeps track of all administered vaccines for continuity of care. It is owned and managed by you, ensuring you have a complete record of your vaccinations for your own health management. It is a voluntary tool and is not mandated across the EU.

The Digital Covid Certificate (DCC) was specifically created to facilitate travel and access to certain services during the Covid-19 pandemic. The certificate was active from 1 July 2021 until 30 June 2023. It was recognised by all 27 EU Member States and contained information on Covid-19 vaccination status, recent test results, or recovery from Covid-19.
